As Finance Manager, my role in ITB is to manage the finance function. The role includes all financial reporting (internal and external), budgeting, unit costing, audit and compliance, financial systems development and implementation and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the function.

I work with a great finance team which is a real blessing.  Since ITB is a publicly funded Institute, our key remit and daily focus as a team is that we account for the use of public funds in a reliable, timely and transparent manner.  We take this very seriously.

Personally, I have a particular interest in financial systems, databases and the extraction and reporting of data so that users can address significant business issues in an informed way.

I joined ITB in December 2006, having previously worked in a number of well-established accounting practices, in private industry, the not-for-profit section and in another Institute of Technology. From a professional development perspective, both practice and private industry were highly formative experiences and I benefited greatly from them. However, I much preferred the ethos and goals of the not-for-profit and education sectors. I found the work there more varied and interesting and welcomed the greater focus on people and their needs.  It was that more expansive focus that drew me initially to ITB.

I love ITB’s campus environment and its physical size and scale. It can accommodate thousands of people, students and staff, which contributes to an exciting atmosphere each September and throughout the academic year.
